Very happy New Year 2012. I cannot go to the Internet cafe since the last 2-3 weeks. I get late in the company, then feel tired and lack energy. I require guidance from all seniors.
Guidance Needed for Storing Liquid Paint
We are planning to store 1000 liters of liquid paint. Please advise if we need a license for this. If yes, from which department.
Thank you in advance.

What I suggest to you on this matter is using a separate container placed at least 25 feet away from other containers. Paint storage containers must be installed with A/C or proper ventilation. Electrical items in the paint storage container must meet NFPA standards (I don't have any documents related to NFPA).

Also, refer to the Indian standard regulation as it will help to stay in compliance.
Hope this helps.

Please read the MSDS of the paints and find out the Flash Point. Confirm if it is Class B or Class C. The quantities you can store are 2500 liters (max 100 liters in one container) in Class B, and 45000 liters in Class C. Beyond these amounts, you need to obtain a license from the Department of Explosives.

In addition to Mr. Sudhir and Raghu's contributions, I would like to tell you two things:
1. If we store the paint in a store, please make arrangements for necessary and adequate fire prevention equipment and display "No Smoking" posters in the paint store.
2. Please ensure that your paint store does not harm the environment. Plan for the proper disposal of empty paint containers, as they may pose a hazard to the environment and a fire risk.
Thank you.

To the best of my knowledge, the display of extracts is required by the Factories Act.
