Dear Seniors,

I have resigned my previous company on 19th march 2014. As per the 3 month notice period my date of leaving is 19th june 2014 which I already served.

Now i got a call from a MNC for Interview on April 2014, called for Final Interview on June,2014 and for pre employment Medical on June,2014. The joining is in October2014.

The problem is that I did not mention during Interview that I already resigned.

The reason I did not mention it in cv and in interview is because I thought the impression will not be good for a candidate already resigned. But at the time of joining when I will have to submit my release letter they will come to know about the matter from the leaving date mentioned in the release letter.

Will there be any problem during joining time? And if they ask why I did not mention it to them, what will I answer? Please Help.

By the way the actual cause of my resignation is that the company I used to work for did manpower reduction and I was one of the 120 engineers who were laid off due to economic downturn of the company.

I have no job offer at present except the one I mention above and already I'm having a career gap of near about 6 mnths.

Please Help.

Dear Saha,

From your message, I am understanding that you had attended the interview while your previous employment was current. That means you were very much in service at the time of interview, serving your notice period. That was no lie.

However, you should have communicated the same when you were told that you are selected. Atleast you could have just told that you can pre-pone the joining since you had resigned some time back. This could have saved some precious time.

You need to submit the relieving letter, last drawn payslip and any tax related documents to the new employer at the time of joining and you are going to answer some questions. My suggestion is to be honest than be afraid. The world is full of opportunities and if you miss one, there's no problem, you must keep attempting. No one will look down upon you because you are not in service or you have a gap.

You will damage whatever bleak chances you have if you attempt doing some kind of cover up.

All the best.
