First of all please try to know the reason she was not taking her job seriously if she tells that well and good.
If you want to give her a chance than give her written warning that you are increasing her probation period due to ......... reason.
And if you don't want to give her a chance and have a better candidate so you can terminate her job by giveing her written explanation.

After going though this case...
Technically Mr Manjunath's comment seems appropriate. But still I feel, Human resource is very important, crucial & delicate factor to handle in company. Human is not object or thing which you can throw like waste. Every person has unique ability. You have to judge & use intelligently smartly for betterment of your company.
I think, she need appreciation.Coz,Appreciation is basic need of emotions which leads to improve efficiency & enthusiasm.
See as you appointed her in your firm, that means you saw some spark, eligibility & ability in her to work with your company. As she is new in your company, she need time to cope-up with company's environment.
This is my opinion based on information received on this page.
I can change employee's behavior if you consult me in-person.
