Dear all,
"Unauthorized absence" is really an act of indiscipline on the part of an employee working in an organization irrespective of any level. If no instance (s) of punishment is imposed upon the person cercerned then it will aggravate like virus to other employees. To check this, I have already implemented in my organization a deduction from salary for the no. of days an employee continues to enjoy the leaves unauthorizedly irrespective of any balance of other types of leaves. This salary deduction implementation is proved to be effective and definitely has set a precedent for others to follow. This is just a financial punishment imposed upon an employee for his / her erratic behaviour but if he/she repeats the same again & again then a show-cause notice shall be issued in his / her favour to invite more disciplinary action (s). Any other kind of suggestion (s) is / are welcome from our learned HRiians in respect of such unauthorized absence. Thank you.

Nothing strange,my employer insurance company has issued me Major penalty charge sheet for "unauthorised absence" of less than 40 days. The matter is pending since last 7 months, although I was one of the most regular employees.

You indirectly created the problem. They waited 3 months for you. You needed to advise them of the problem as to WHY you did not return. If you go, do not leave on a bad term. Be nice as they might be contacted for a reference by a new company. Be sure you know your reasons for leaving and that they are valid.
With 10 years service it will stand you in good for a new job. But why did you stay away that the issue.!!

Employer had done their part by sending you warring letter and show cause letter. It was only you to defaut who had not responded. Atleast you must be once a time replied to0 them , it may be affect on your rejoining part. But you kicked your job. Else right now you can do only one thing, make a right statment to your new employer and tell them why you did so?
Hope you will get new job.
All the best !!!
