Hello everyone,

I graduated in 2021 and joined my first company in June 2021. I left after seven months of experience because I wanted to change my career domain. I didn't serve the notice period due to some personal issues. Fortunately, everything is sorted now, and my company was kind enough to provide me with a relieving letter and an experience certificate because I was in their good books.

Background Verification Concerns

Now, the matter is that I have the relieving letter and experience certificate from my previous company, but I didn't serve the notice period and have been unemployed for two months. During the background verification at my new organization, will this become a problem? Will my new employer check with my previous employer regarding the notice period? What reasons can I give for leaving early, and what should I say if my new employer asks about the notice period? I need help. I am really afraid. Please help me.

Additional information: My first company belongs to the Telecommunication industry, and I am shifting to the IT industry. I will be joining XYZ organization in the first week of April.

When you have a relieving letter and experience certificate with you, I don't see any reason to worry. The purpose of background verification is to understand an employee's integrity, work ethics, behavior, and overall contribution to the organization. Even if the new company conducts a verification regarding the notice period completion, you can have your answer prepared. They won't delve too deeply as it appears to be a personal issue.

However, to prevent encountering this issue again, ensure that you complete the exit formalities properly wherever you may work in the future.

Same think I am facing. I have joining date 3 days later. Should I tell this problem to HR by myself before background verification? Or If they ask then I will explain.
