Hi Guys,

I have been working in a private limited company for the last 4.2 years. Four days ago, my project manager informed me that we are reducing your salary by half due to the company's financial situation. The day before, he mentioned that we are providing you with a one-month notice period to find a job for yourself.

Could you please advise me if it is possible for the employer to give me a one-month notice along with cutting my salary in half?

Thanks & regards,
Amit K

Dear Amit K,

If your unit is covered under The Payment of Wages Act, 1936, and your wages/salary is less than Rs. 10,000 per month, and if your salary is deducted in an illegal manner by your employer, then you can approach the Labour Office of your area for intervention in the matter and for taking necessary legal action. If the above situation is not the case, then you are to approach the civil court for a breach of contract in accordance with your appointment letter.

Dear Sir,

My in-hand salary is more than Rs 10K. However, the employer is not providing me with a written notice period; he has only informed me verbally. Today, when I discussed with him regarding the salary and notice period letter, he mentioned that they are issuing a termination letter effective from tomorrow onwards.

Please advise.

Dear Khola Sir,

I am facing a critical salary dispute problem with my employer. The problem is unique as it is unethical, and no corporation should engage in such unethical practices. I am in dire need of your advice as the situation is escalating day by day. Kindly permit me to have a telephonic discussion at your convenience.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely

From India, Junagadh
