I require your assistance with my employment history on the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) website.

To provide some context, I started at XYZ Company on April 3, 2023, and signed an offer letter from ABC Company on April 5, 2023. However, after completing the induction session at ABC Company and reviewing the job description, I decided not to continue my employment there because what they told me during the interview process was different. Therefore, I chose not to work with ABC and informed the project manager over the phone at ABC Company, stating that I can't continue due to personal reasons. Subsequently, I continued my career at XYZ Company.

The information about ABC Company is still reflected in the EPF portal. Please assist me in removing ABC Company from my EPF records and cleaning up any service history associated with them. I am thankful for your help in resolving this matter as soon as possible. Please notify me if there is a procedure that I must follow, as this will affect my future work with BGV.

Hi, I presume you worked for ABC Company for 1 or 2 days and left without serving notice. My assumption is that Company ABC followed disciplinary processes, deducted salary with PF deduction, and closed your file after the salary process. Please check for the Date of Exit (DOE) of ABC, which will reveal the fact. Hence, they processed the salary, and that history cannot be deleted from your UAN portal. Also, there are chances of overlapping as you might have joined a new company before officially being relieved by Company ABC.

Thank you, and I can confirm the Date of Exit (DOE) with ABC Company, which is set for May 12th, 2023, on the EPF portal. However, I have not served for that many days, nor have I received any salary from the company.

Will my Background Verification (BGV) in my current company XYZ or any future company be impacted if I am unable to remove the service history records from ABC from the UAN portal?

Background Verification and PF Compliance

Your background verification at XYZ Company will not be affected as only the pre-employment history will be checked. However, the PF compliance authority at XYZ Company may become aware if it chooses to check. Given your very limited tenure at ABC, this may not be taken seriously, especially since you have not received any salary from either source or from XYZ during this period.

Managing Employment Transition Between Companies

To avoid issues with XYZ Company, you need to indicate the date of your exit for a couple of days when transitioning from ABC. After leaving ABC, make sure to inform XYZ, as there may be an overlap in EPF. If this step is not taken, the only alternative is to request ABC not to process your wages for this interim period. They can provide a letter confirming the inclusion of your UAN number, assuming you will be joining XYZ, even if you did not report due to a valid reason.
