Dear Seniors,

Currently we are facing issue with excess manpower(workers) & we have to discontinue quiet a big number of workers(most of them are female) as company has reduces its business. We don' t want to make our local people suffer due to this cost cutting & we feel responsible for their development & sustainability but without affecting the profitability of our company.

To manage this situation I am thinking to generate employment for them by opening any small scale industry(Gruhudyog sort of thing) where they can generate income for their families. As a corporate citizen we also want that the area where we are operating should flourish & develop.I am thinking about starting some small scale business with the help of government because after certain level company can't support them financially. Pls suggest how I can do this & what will be pros & cons that I need to work on before suggesting this to Management for approval & implementation, can govt.support us(or me an an individual) to successful implement this project.

Please give your inputs & direction to go ahead.

Thanks & Regards

Dear Akansha
Retrenchment and Rehabilitation through Small Scale Industry is two different aspect.
1. You have to follow the process of retrenchment as per the provision of ID Act
2. VRS Scheme can be implemented and employee may actively participate in this with the assurance that they may get employement through Small Scale Industries.
3. You may establish Cooperative society for self employment under CSR activities as per the provision of Companies Act.
Thanks & Regards

You have to work on two projects separately and simultaneously and synchronize it in such a way that the moment retrenchment project is over the rehabilitation begins.
For this you will have to take the employees into confidence so that they have trust in you and work accordingly, so please prepare a blue print and speak to them.
