Dear friends,

I have a unique question that has arisen. Last month, I went for an inspection of our subcontractor's premises in Kerala, who used to do processing work for us. When I asked him if he has a Factory license to operate the factory, which he doesn't have, he told me that he has a small-scale industry certificate registration. This situation has left me a little confused, and a question arises: If a factory has an S.S.I. Certificate, isn't it mandatory for it to also have a factory license? Or does a factory not need to obtain a factory license to operate once it has an S.S.I. Certificate?

Awaiting your reply.

With regards,
Avinash K.

Dear All, I have an export house in Varanasi. My company is registered under SSI. In 2010, there were 15 employees in my factory, but now, since July 2011, I have 40 employees. Currently, an audit is due in my factory, and the auditor has requested the factory license. I would like to know if I should apply for a factory license or if my SSI registration fulfills the audit requirements.

Thank you.
