As I have some experience in the IT sector, I am keen to work in the IT industry preferably. Also, I am not sure if shifting industries would be the right choice or not. But the main query is about what job profile I should be taking at the entry level.

Job Opportunities for MBA-HR Freshers

Being a fresher, I am receiving all the job offers in the field of recruitment only. Can I expect a job in any other field such as performance management, talent scouting, compensation administration, etc., at the entry level? If I start my career in the field of recruitment, can I make a move to my desired field later on? Or will I be bound to stick to recruitment only all along?

Please guide me in this matter. It would be a great help. 

As you have experience as a software engineer, you can transition into a job as a Technical Recruiter. Nowadays, there are more job openings in recruitment compared to other core areas of HR, so you may need to put in extra effort.

Your confusion is obvious, but don't get too worried about changing professions. I have gone through the same situation you are thinking about. I have a Master's in IT and worked as a Software Engineer for almost 1 year. Today, I am in HR at an MNC IT company for the last year. So, be tension-free. You have almost 2 years of experience in IT, giving you the skills to identify the right candidate better than any other MBA person. This is your biggest advantage, just as it is mine.

Focusing on Recruitment

Based on my experience, I would suggest focusing on recruitment, giving first preference to IT recruitment. With your MBA in HR, you can shift yourself into the core HR profile. Your IT knowledge is your biggest strength at the entry level, making it easy for you to enter any IT company as an HR professional.

My degree is full-time but not from any of the premier institutions you have mentioned! So, recruitment seems to be 'the option'.
