Dear Professionals, I am seeking your consent for conducting employment verifications and personal reference checks of the incumbents. Could you advise on the most suitable time for performing such checks on an incumbent? Are there any legal formalities as per UAE labor law? Should these checks be conducted during the hiring process, or would it be better to do them after hiring with prior intimation to the candidate in case of failure? Please share your insights.

Regards,

A reference check is conducted to verify information about a candidate. In our company, the reference check is completed before issuing the offer letter, contacting any of the candidate's previous employers. A second reference check is carried out after the candidate has joined but before issuing the appointment letter, involving the employer the candidate was working for prior to joining our company. Sometimes, a reference check is conducted after informing the candidate.

Thank you.
