As a civil contractor running my own business, I have undertaken a labor-intensive civil construction project in a new industry. The client has awarded the project to the main contractor, who is responsible for providing all the necessary materials and labor. The main contractor has subcontracted the labor work to me on an item rate basis. I will further delegate this work to various labor contractors based on the specific tasks involved, such as excavation, concrete work, centering, shuttering, etc.

In this process, I need to ensure compliance with labor laws and obtain the necessary licenses. Additionally, although I do not usually hire labor on a daily wage basis, if needed, the workforce will not exceed 10 individuals.

Compliance with Labor Laws

What specific labor laws will I need to adhere to in this scenario? Moreover, what licenses will be required for this project?

You have to follow the following laws:

1. Contract Labor Law (if employing more than 20 laborers).
2. Employee Provident Fund Act.
3. Employee Compensation Act.

All these require a lot of paperwork. You can hire a labor law consultant and give him all the headache, allowing you to focus on your business. If you want, you can contact me at [Phone Number Removed For Privacy Reasons] for some references to consultants.
