Respected sir/madam, Am doing chartered accountancy. Could you please tell me when a shop act license becomes compulsory ? what are the conditions? How is it for branches of a main company?

If a shop or an establishment is to commence any activities, it is a prerequisite to obtain a license irrespective of the number of employees involved. Even if you do not have employees, a license is a requirement. Branches need to get licenses in their respective areas.

According to the auditing statement, we mentioned the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board certificate. It is based only on the Factory Act. However, this Tailor Shop operates based on the Shop Act, with only 7 employees working here. The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board certificate is typically applicable to factories. Therefore, how is it possible for a shop to have this certification? Please clarify this licensing discrepancy.
