For receptionist one can prescribe KRA&KPA that too work for some extent. For peon it is difficult to presribe as he is expected to do all odd jobs.

For lower level staff like Peon, office attender etc., instead of KRA you can define standards i.e, tasks which they have to do on a daily basis. BHAVAN

Hi Smitha,
Key Result Areas (KRAs) for a Receptionist include:
- Voice modulation
- Communication skills
- Presentation skills
- Attending to calls and transferring them appropriately
- Taking notes of calls from important personalities and passing them on accordingly
- Assisting customers/guests at the counter
- Assisting with tasks assigned by various departments, such as effective file transfers
- Maintaining housekeeping activities like cleaning and providing coffee/tea/snacks/food to department staff
- Handling individuals and groups diplomatically
- Avoiding unnecessary gossip and refraining from spreading rumors about others
- Prioritizing assigned tasks
- Efficiently managing time for each specific task
You can rate this specification on a scale of 01 to 05, with 01 being the lowest and 05 being the highest for a Receptionist. For a peon, you can use a grading scale from A to D, where "A" represents excellent and "D" indicates poor performance.

Dear Mr. BV Raghunath,
What you have provided is the Job Description, not the KRA. KRA must be measurable; if it cannot be measured, then it is not KRA. To simply change the terminology, you can refer to it as Key Performance Area (KPA). Please review the attached file. I downloaded this file a couple of years ago.
