Hi,
Its not ethical to say your employees to leave the company just because they got married to each other...
I can give u one example of One of the BIG IT company in which my cousin is working. She got married to his co worker only. n they are still working in the same company n company didnt tell any of them to leave the company. Its really very Big co. n very reputed one.
So, I think no need to tell them to leave.
Thanks

Hi Ravi,
I am not sure about the legal grounds on this however I can tell you about org where I am working in. As soon as I read this posting I started counting how many are there in our org. I finally came to know that there are 5 pairs like this. We have absolutely no problem with them.
Infact among those one pair was from Delhi to retain this employee we have offered the job to his wife also however both are working well and both are TLs now.
Its working well in our org as a technique of retention.
Infact some of the companies they are offering with very good compliments if the employees of the org gets married.
Come on!! we are in an era where Recruitment has become a great challange. So Don't loose your expeienced employees.
Let me know for any clarifications.

Kalyan. :D

Hi
Its not viable to sack both do have counsellings,Also check the appraisal too,but why the same question in case of employees.
Are not we know that someone male is in MD capacity in the same company where his wife is one of the Director capacity, but we don't/nor the board do any harm to this, then why it is a question mark in case of employee.
Still look co policy,Employee potential,Really it causes disturbance or not, then still no harsh rather counselled descion.
I hope it will work
thnx

This is an OLD practice.Has absolutely no legal basis.
To avoid'conflict of interest' it is better to AVOID reporting relationship-leave sanction/performance appraisal, shift concession, job design etc-.
Otherwise no issues at all.
May be even better for the company.

HI Friends,
In my company we do have policy of allowing married couples to work within the company.
the only factor which is ensured is not to place them in same project, function or department.
thanks.

Hi,
In this case First of all what's the Company policy says should be followed. If it says that anti-nepotism policy to be followed then you can ask one of them to leave. If the Company policy dosent say anything like this what most you can do is you can shift their departments.
But if you go against the company policy then chances are there that other policies tends to face the same fate.
Employees will take the all the co. Policy for granted.which is not acceptable at all.

Hi,

That was a very interesting and an important Question.

There are 2 ways of looking at it.

1. Work

2. Personal life.

1. Work : As long as Work is not getting affected (Because of Spouse/Friend) etc., no company (standard company) is bothered.

Org is concerned about the productivity of the employes..and cannot decide about feelings/emotions.

However, Both Husband and Wife cannot work in the Same department (or) the Spouse should not be a Reporting Manager because there could be some bias in working or During Performance Mgmt. (Once again, because it is work that is affected)...hence, They are given a choice to work in a department with in the ORganisation (if they match the requirements of that role)

2. Personal Life : No organisation has any legal authority to throw away employees because they got married...However, the company may take Action on One of Spouse if the Other one Complains about some harrassemtn done WITHIN the company. (like it would to any other employee...when an emp is within the org, it does not want to cause any discomfort to any emp).

Hope this resolves...

If you need any further clarification, would be glad to provide.

Regards,

Sirisha.

since they are old employees, they should not be removed because it is not their fault that they fall in love with each other. yes, the law prohibits husband and wife to work in one company but this only means that they should not be working in one department or one division, otherwise, it is okey.

Dear friend
Better you leave the company. This is not a company for which you should sweat. You can not remove a employee if they get internally married. It is a violation of the fundamental rights which every citizen in this country enjoys.
Your decisions can be challenged in the court beware of this fact. you can only convince one of them to leave the job and don't forget to pay the compensation.
