Hello everyone.

I am the sole trainer in my organization. I am going to hire new members for my team. Therefore, I request you to guide me on how I should proceed with training these trainers. Would a "train the trainer" course help? Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi Dinesh,

Thanks a lot for your response and offer to help. I am based in Delhi and want to attend a session that gives me the opportunity to observe other trainers, get feedback on my training style, learn from other perspectives, and update my own training skills.

The job requisition that I have put to my HR cites a similar skill set as you have mentioned. I am hiring my team in a slow phase, maybe one member in a month's time and another in about 3 months (if I get lucky to find a good person!)

I am just confused about the process of getting them started once on board after the induction. Should I discuss the training methodologies and skills to start with, or should I start with the product knowledge? If they already have customer service experience, does it make sense to put them in the selling environment themselves before they start to train? What do you think?

Dear Suman,

First and foremost, you need to do market research. Your decisions should be based on market requirements. You need to know the following:

a) Who are my customers?

b) What exactly do they want? Where are they located?

c) To fulfill their needs, what do I need to do? What kind of resources do I need to have? (Resources include knowledge resources, market resources, human resources, and physical resources.)

d) What are the standards of my customer satisfaction?

Armed with these details, you can enter the fray. Then you can start your recruitment, training the trainer program, fix their performance standards, and move upward.

In the meanwhile, please start attending the training programs conducted by other companies. You should have exposure to at least 10 trainers.

All the best!

Thanks,
