To all my seniors, I am working in an MNC, and since joining, I haven't received any promotion in my designation. I have received a salary hike, but all other employees have been promoted and received new designations. Can I leave the company for this reason without giving the required two months' notice period? I have an immediate offer from another employer. I am frustrated that after contributing for 30 months to this company, I am still in the same position.
I request your guidance on this matter as you all have good experience with industry standards.

True, this situation is really frustrating. But don't leave any job on a bad note. It's better to speak with your immediate boss and try to understand the reason for this. Ask for true and clear feedback on your performance and work on it. Leaving any job just because of this is not the solution. You may face the same situation even in future jobs.
All the best, and I hope you will get your promotion soon.

I agree with Mr. Pankaj's suggestion. Without finding a reason for your promotion, you are not supposed to leave your current job. If you quit immediately, it will spoil your goodwill and everything, and you will face some problems too. So, stay there until you receive a new offer with a better designation than your current one. Then, proceed according to your company's policies.
I will pray for you and wish you good luck.

Promotion and Its Determinants
Promotion is not a matter of right. It is determined by various factors. Find out which functional area needs your improvement for the promotion. Sometimes it is biased due to the non-recommendation of your immediate boss. You need to have a good rapport with your managers.
In some companies, not only the efficiency level or performance speaks for your elevation but also good rapport with your team and line managers. The good part is you are getting a salary hike, albeit you are not getting the elevation as deserved.
However, leaving an organization without completing the exit formalities amounts to a breach of the employment contract, which may land you in legal trouble.

Dear I agreed with Mr.Pankaj suggestion to you. Hasty decisions will get you into a deep trouble. Try to respond to the situation rather than to react. GG

Promotion is necessary becoz salary is not a matter, if your designation is changed than your salary is increase. it is very bad to work under colleague.

Why Do You Want a Promotion?
Is it for motivation, confidence, self-respect, or social respect? Forget all that and always feel like you are an important person, as an employee, as a social person, or as you want to be. No matter what your designation is, forget what your employer did to you. If your employer is not good, try to change your employer until you find the best one. In this world, it is very hard to find a good employer. Be strong, gain more knowledge and experience, and bear injustice until your employer asks about your desired salary and position. Don't compare yourself to other employees; set your goals and strive to achieve them.
I have worked in more than 10 industries, and my experience is that most companies have poor policies regarding promotions and salary increments. Some companies do not want to provide higher rates of increment but are willing to offer positions as employees desire. Fresh employees also receive senior positions like Officer, Manager, Executive, etc., but their salaries, compared to other industries, are very low. Some companies offer high salaries but positions based on qualifications. Some companies consider experience and qualifications for positions and pay, while others focus on the importance of the work rather than qualifications and experience. Some companies promote based on personal relationships. Therefore, always present yourself as an important person within the company, and remember that your work is crucial for the company.

Well said by Madhusudhan. If promotion is a motivating factor for you, as others have said, speak to your boss and find out the reasons. If there are shortcomings on your side, correct them; if not, leave the company by giving proper notice as per your company's norms. All the best.

I am not agreeing with any one of you. First, speak to your boss. If your boss wants your promotion, he will definitely do it, or you can go through your hierarchy to find a solution. If he doesn't want to or doesn't give you a satisfactory answer, then you need to change it right now.

Promotion definitely keeps you motivated and would enhance your career prospects. As rightly pointed out, don't leave an organization with a negative mark. Firstly, talk to your reporting boss and understand the reason. After understanding, give a second thought to the same. Maybe the next employer can do the same.

First, you have to discuss this with your boss. If the answer is negative, then you should give a notice period before leaving the company. This way, you can maintain your good reputation with your current company. Losing a good employee is a significant event for any company, so perhaps your boss will realize the mistake he made.
Stay calm and discuss the matter with him. Since you have spent 30 months there, you likely have a good bond with your boss. He may understand your perspective.
Sometimes, a good conversation is all it takes to solve a big problem.
All the best for your bright future!
