The company we were working for was taken over by another company three years ago. Within one year, the new management has let go of almost 50% of the staff. Even though two years have passed, their full and final settlement has not been resolved despite many letters. All emails sent to the MD and Directors remain unanswered. Is there any way to collect the settlement? I request the members to advise in this regard.

Please find attached related documents on Professional Tax in Maharashtra.
1. Brief on Professional Tax.
2. Gazette amending the Professional Tax (now employees earning below 5000 are exempt from Professional Tax. Earlier, this was not the case).

Dear Friend,
You can approach the Labour Court, and there you will find a remedy for the same. According to the Industrial Disputes Act of 1947, an employee is entitled to 15 days of compensation for every year of work completed. Additionally, the compensation should be paid within 48 hours of the retrenchment; if not paid, the termination is also considered illegal. Please take the necessary action by submitting a group application.
