Hi everyone,

It's great to see so many people helping each other. I'm Anuradha from Crescent Engineering College, currently preparing my questionnaire on the recruitment process for my project work on recruitment and staffing in the IT industry. Can anyone with knowledge about current industry practices guide me on what areas I should cover and, if possible, provide any format or model for designing the questionnaire, please.

Recruitment Procedure

Publishing the requirement based on manpower requirements raised by various CEOs/COOs/CTOs/HODs/PMs in the Manpower Requisition Form as per the format. Conduct tests, interviews, etc., as per the HR Manual after screening the applications/resumes. Candidate evaluation shall be recorded in the Interview Score Sheet as per the formats according to the HR Manual. Inform the selected candidates. Intimate the System Administrator about the joining date of the new recruit in relevant cases to make necessary arrangements. Notify the Finance Department about the appointment, including the terms of appointment.

Hi Vandana,

It was good to read about the topics you covered in recruitment. Could you please let me know what the role of HR is in interviews? Is it just coordinating the interviews with technical professionals and handling clerical work? How important is the role of HR after the completion of the search and finalization of sources?

Lakshmi.

Hi Lakshmi,

I saw your query, and here are some points that explain how an HR person is crucial in the recruitment process:

1) The primary role of an HR person is to bring in the right candidates, ensuring they do not create problems for the organization.

2) The secondary role involves acting as a mind reader and screening potential candidates.

3) Without the approval from HR, the team leader cannot hire a candidate.

I hope these points are concise.

Ram

Hi Anuradha,

I just saw your post. I also want to know about the questionnaire of the recruiting process. If you have any model regarding that, please send it to me. The reason is that I am working as an HR manager in an IT company, and I am very new to HR. I joined recently, just one month ago. So, please help me in this matter.

Please have a nice day.

Thanks & Regards,
Lalitha

Hi,

The recruitment process starts with the Recruitment Requisition Form. The HR gets it filled from the Process Head and approved by the Management. Through the possible resources, get and shortlist the CVs. Calling candidates for interviews, the rounds can be:

1) Prescreening done by HR
2) Written test (Aptitude or Comprehension)
3) Technical interview
4) Final salary negotiations
5) Reference check

Joining formalities:

1) Offer letter
2) Filling the personal data form
3) Appointment letter

If you want some more information about recruitment and staffing, such as forms and documents, contact me.

Hi Shilpa,

What are all the various sources you are following to target the right talent? Can you please advise in this regard? Is there any specific diplomacy to get the best talent from the market? We are finding it highly difficult to target experienced candidates from the market. I know all HR professionals will be facing the same. Sharing the best ideas will hopefully help everyone in this field.

Thanks,
Lakshmi

Hi Laxmi,

You can find the best talent from the market by going through Google search, your own network in the HR circle, and employee references. When it comes to senior or very senior individuals in the industry, they may not submit their CVs on job portals, making it challenging to recruit candidates with specific skill sets.

Another effective approach is to advertise on cable networks, as it can yield positive results.

If you encounter any difficulties in recruitment, feel free to contact me.

Shilpa

Hi Shilpa and all,

Is it true that getting an experienced candidate is tough? And next to that, the expectations they have are somewhat big. Our management wants the HR personnel to negotiate, but how much can we do? It's like being somewhere else when the resource sourcing process is ongoing.

Dear Shilpa,

Since I'm new to this industry, I'm finding it difficult to form my own network circles and could not understand the option given by you as an AD in a cable network. Do you mean to say the ad internally?

Kindly explain.

Thanks,
Lakshmi.
