Hi All, I have worked as an HR Generalist for almost 3 years in one of the prominent engineering companies in Himachal Pradesh. Now that I have shifted to Bangalore and am trying to find a job in a Generalist role, I am facing challenges as everyone is asking for recruitment experience. Although I have some recruitment experience, it is not extensive. Can anyone please help me by giving suggestions on how to prepare for such questions and how to explain the recruitment process to the interviewer?

Thanks & Regards,
Simi

Hi, please correct me if I am wrong.

Steps in the Recruitment Process

The first step starts when the concerned department intimates the HR Department about the vacancy. The second step is preparing the job description: it includes defining the requirements of the job and what other traits you are looking for, such as educational qualifications, experience, communication skills, etc.

The third step includes advertising, whether through job portals, newspapers, or any other source. The fourth step involves managing and shortlisting the responses. Select the resumes that best suit your requirements.

The fifth step involves arranging the interview and conducting it. The next step involves decision-making by the interviewer. The last step involves taking action in terms of appointment.

Like Simhan mentioned, your general/overall understanding of the recruitment process is correct. However, what you mentioned "presupposes" the sourcing of suitable candidates/applicants from external sources—you mentioned job portals, newspapers, etc. But what would you do if you were assigned to find/source them? Meaning, if the company doesn't want to depend on the channels you mentioned. Have you used any job portal anytime—not to post your resume but to search for candidates?
