I currently work in a Central Govt. organization, let's call it 'A'. Before I joined A in October 2013 as a Regular/Permanent employee, I had appeared for a written test for another Govt organization 'B' (autonomous body).

After six months of working in A, I passed the written test and received an interview call from B. So, I informed my current and immediate boss at Organization A in writing that I wanted to appear for the interview for Organization B, requesting permission. I also mentioned that I had taken this test before joining A. I waited for their response, but they did not reply, so I proceeded with the interview for B, as I would have otherwise missed the opportunity. The final results have been declared, and I have qualified for a position in Organization B in 2015, expecting to receive an appointment letter soon.

My question is, if I resign from A once I receive the appointment letter and join B, will A provide me with an NOC letter since I had informed them about my interview? Or will they create problems as they did not respond?

I would also like to inform you that to date, I have not received a confirmation letter from my employer A. The appointment letter/order stated that the probation period would be one year, extendable by another year. It was also mentioned that either party could give one month's notice or one month's salary in lieu of during the probation period.

Normally, government companies ask for an application for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for appearing in tests/interviews and issue an NOC mentioning that the employee will be released after being selected. After being selected, the employee should give resignation with a 3-month notice period or pay in lieu.

In your case, it seems that your company is not employee-friendly (as you stated that they didn't give a reply). Probably some experts can provide a legal perspective for getting released from your company if they are stubborn enough not to accept your resignation and release you.

Thank you, Gunde jee, for your kind reply. My concern is, what can I do if they do not release me? If I resign citing personal reasons, will the new organization accept my work experience and service records, such as leave, increments, etc., into consideration?

Sir, I am a permanent employee in a central government autonomous body as a technician. However, after two years without receiving a confirmation letter, I applied for a state government job without following the proper channel and took the written test. I have now cleared the written test, but as I am about to go for the interview/counseling, I need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from my current employer. Kindly provide me with a solution urgently.
