Hello Sir/Madam,

I joined company "A," located in Mumbai (work from home), on March 1st, 2021, and resigned on May 26th, 2021. In the email, my last day was not specified. However, I received confirmation in a meeting with my manager that my last day was June 4th. I did not have any HR conversation regarding this. Upon confirming my last day as June 4th, I joined company "B" on June 11th, as my HR was pushing me to start as soon as possible. I did not disclose my employment details with company "A" to company "B," but I informed company "B" HR about my previous employment with company "A." Their guidance was not to disclose the details as my tenure was only 3 months and 12 days.

The issue now is that I received my R&R and relieving letter on July 23rd from company "A," stating June 13th (Sunday) as my last working day. However, I had already started working at company "B" on June 11th (Friday), resulting in a 2-day overlap. I am concerned that this overlap may impact my Background Verification (BGV) and Provident Fund (PF) claim at my new company. I would appreciate your advice on how to proceed.

Kindly advise.

Now the matter is more than two years old. HR of Company B knows about the overlap, so there is no issue with it as regards Company B. Now, are you leaving it and joining yet another company? If the new company is a well-established one, then this will come to light during BGV, and you will be required to explain it. How the new company would look at it varies from company to company, and we are unable to guess. In case it is a start-up or in its early days, they may not view it seriously. It is better to make a candid confession with the new organization about your background and leave the present job only if they are okay with it. At any rate, this overlap would be evident from your background, and it is better you don't try to deny or camouflage it.

Overlap in Employment Dates: Seeking Advice

So, do I need to go ahead and inform HR before attending the interview that there is an overlap of 2 days? Can I withdraw money, as all my money will be lost due to this issue? Is it possible to request my current HR to change the date of joining? Please advise.
