I was working for the 1st company. Due to some reasons, I decided to resign on an immediate basis and without serving the notice period. After this, I joined the 2nd company as a fresher.
However, the 1st company provided my exit date on the UAN portal as September, while I actually joined the 2nd company in August. The thing is, I didn't receive any salary from the 1st company during August.
If I apply for a 3rd company, should I highlight this overlap problem? I can prove that it was the 1st company's mistake; I have emails stating that I didn't work from July, and I have bank statements. Should this justify that there is no overlap and it was just the 1st company's mistake since I don't have any documents from the 1st company?
By the way, one more question: Do companies check the UAN portal for background verification?

It is advisable to present the facts to the proposed employer to avoid any future complexities. Clearly communicate this to the HR during the HR interview. This is not a significant challenge. The only difficulty you may encounter is with PF transfers, which you should be mindful of.
