I have received a job offer from Infosys. I informed them that my total experience is 2 years, but in reality, I have over 3 years of experience. I did not disclose my previous employment history; instead, I only mentioned my most recent job. I provided them with my UAN number. If I choose to conceal details of my initial employment, could this potentially cause any issues during the background verification process?

Concerns About Concealing Employment History

Why you resort to hiding the facts is best known to you. The employer would come to know by searching through the UAN. You have dug a hole by hiding the details from the employer, and it is a breach of trust. It may be possible to find someone from that establishment where you both were working at this new place. Your present employer sends the background verification to the past employer whose information has been furnished by you in the biodata. You should be prepared to answer why you did not disclose the details of the employer with whom you spent another two years if they come to know about the hidden information. Until that time, stay without tension.

Hi Prabhat, thanks for your reply. I've told them about my 2 years of experience, whereas I haven't mentioned the remaining 1 year of experience as the domain is irrelevant. Please let me know if this could cause any problems in the background verification process.

It's okay, the employer will send BGV to only those whose information you have given in your biodata. The future is very uncertain, but always maintain truth because this is related to your career.

Furthermore, maintain decency while addressing someone who is quite senior to you in age and experience.

Dear Sir, I completed my qualifying degree in 2021 and got a job at Company A. Meanwhile, I was also applying to other companies as a fresher. Now, I have received an offer letter and a joining letter from a good Company B. I worked with my first employer for a total of five months. I resigned, and my resignation was accepted. Now, what will happen when my UAN number reveals my previous job history? Please guide and advise.

Hi Avinash, could you please confirm if you joined Infosys and what happened? Did they find out about your past employers using UAN? I'm also in the same situation now. Please share your experience so that I'll also be alert in uncertain situations.
