Hello all,

We are forming a new HR department in our company, and currently, there are no procedures or systems in place. Could anyone please guide me on what steps I need to take from the beginning? We are an IT company, and so far, I have recruited 22 candidates ranging from freshers to senior management. Now, I am looking to establish some effective procedures and systems in this department. Can anyone please help me out?

Dear Rita, first and foremost, when setting up a new HR department, you need to lay down the process flow of all the functions primarily required to carry out HR tasks like Recruitment & Selection, Learning & Development, Grievance Handling escalation process, and leave management process.

Once you formulate the above process flows, you then have to create policies for each HR function. You will also need to prepare the Code of Conduct for your organization.

After completing all the above-mentioned steps, ensure that these policies and processes are followed within your organization. This will aid in the smooth functioning of HR processes.
