I am new in this firm. Currently, I am working for a small company as an HR Manager. Since my company is very small and a startup, we have not created any policies yet. I want to make our company more organized. Can anybody give me some ideas?
As I don't know much about the HR field, could anyone help me decide if I should pursue an HR certification course?

I hope you have decided on your career as HR. There's nothing to worry about; consider joining an MBA program through distance learning or, if possible, pursue it part-time. I have attached a Word document that will give you an idea of how to set up an HR department. If you have more queries, feel free to post them. When others can do it, why not you? Keep rocking!

No necessity for certifications, but you can try getting certified for career enhancement.
As far as setting up an HR department with policies/guidelines is concerned, you can find a lot of material on citehr itself. A few other things you need to keep in mind are:
Under situations where the concepts are new to the users, it will be easy to prepare the guidelines, but implementation will be challenging. Don't take it as a failure. Success is continuous when you try to implement policies in HR and ensure that people follow certain decorum. Start with a never give-up and a positive attitude. After all, it's up to you to decide what should happen to you or what should not happen to you.

Deepika, you can join a course in core HR. There are some good institutes in Pune and Mumbai offering a 2-month course. The fees could range from 20k to 30k. Pursuing an MBA through distance learning won't be as beneficial, as it mainly provides a degree. Some individuals with an MCA background have transitioned to HR due to the recession and have opted for these classes. The institutes not only provide certification but also offer an experience letter and placement assistance.

I agree with you, Rajkumar. There are many people who join HR even if they don't know much about it. When taking any job, they should consider whether it matches their qualifications or not. People who have completed their post-graduation in HR often struggle to find jobs in HR because some individuals are willing to work for lower salaries without the necessary qualifications.
