Under the Payment of Gratuity Act, there is no system of assigning code numbers to the employees. The payment of gratuity accrues when an employee leaves after 5 years of service. The amount of gratuity is calculated on the basis f the salary of the respective employee at the time of his leaving service. Therefore, it is not practical also to decide in advance the amount of gratuity and time of payment.
If you have employee number allotted on a chronological order ( based on date of joining) then the same shall be used for gratuity also, if so particular, so that by seeing the employee number itself we can have an idea about his probable date of joining.

Hi,

An employee by joining in a company will get an Employee Code. His eligibility for Gratuity is only on completion of 5 years. Every employee who join in the company may not complete 5 years and hence coding is not rquired(Optional).

It seems you are in the initial stages of your career in HR. Better follow the guidelines specified by ERP Consultants, who has good understanidng on the subject.
