Dear Members,
It's a very good topic for debate... but first let us understand why people in organization hate HR people... Here what i feel goes wrong...
HR people make unnecessary commitment....
Communicating wrong information to the concern employee..
Un-Professional way of dealing with people..
Not listening to people problem and jumping to conclusions....
Never accepting their faults.. and always in a notion that they are right...
Favourtism to some employee in the organization.... during Performance period...
These are some problems where i feel we can improve.... and prove to our colleagues that HR Department is for the benefit of the Organization and Employee as well..

tat was a amazing article,i agree to watevr in tat write -up ,but tell me 1 thing, m in my final yr. MBA(HR) n a project trainee in a bangalore based co.in my co.i've seen thr is no unity between HR'S all of them r jealous n always try to find fault against each other,wat 2 say abt tat,if thr no unity,hatred between HR'S then how can we expect all other employees to cooperate or love HR.

Hi,

Executive jealousy is there is omnipresent. It is there in every dept.,and in every profession - among engineers, doctors, lawyers, CEOs of subsidiaries of the same company and so on.

Why do you want to blame only HR professionals?

Moreover, when there is no proper understanding of the role of HR by the HR professionals and others in the organization, then such intra-department conflicts are bound to arise.

That is why, we - the HR professional - need to clearly understand our roles - as professionals in the context of the expectations of the organization - the CEO, other top management executives and the line managers.

When I say understanding of the expectations of the organization, I do not mean to say changing your core values, compromising on what should be role of HR by such core values and principles, or dancing to the tune of the CEO and others in the organization.

Like you have a better perception of the Finance & Accounts profession amongst the employees, the perceived role of HR widely varies. Often, the role is strongly influenced by the CEOs expectations, which are again subject to some extent to the impact of the perceptions/own expectations of other key personnel in the company.

So, please deeply think about the role of HR and clarify to yourself what should be the value system of the HR professional in the light of the ideal role.

CiteHR is making a wonderful contribution to the evolution of HR as an envious profession.

Hi Sanjeev,
It is indeed a pleasure to read your article. I agree with your last line that few people by their wrong deeds bring hatred/disgrace to the profession & ofcource country on whole.
Infact we were just discussing on this site on the issue how HR professionals are practising inethical ways of recruiting people by encouraging backdoor recruitment. I am sure such practices prevail in every profession but since we are from HR group we are more sensitized & hurt by these deeds of a few HR.
Welcome to the forum & do share your views on this issue as well.
