I am currently working at XYZ company full-time, and meanwhile, I am pursuing my regular MBA (with no attendance, only attending for final exams). If I shift to another company, ABC, I plan to include my regular MBA on my resume instead of the work experience at XYZ. Will my new employer, ABC, be able to access details about my previous employment at XYZ, including my experience, through my UAN or ESI number? Please provide me with an answer and solution. I am facing financial difficulties and am determined to complete my MBA in a regular format. Kindly offer your suggestions.

Concerns about Distance MBA and Employment

It's commendable that you are studying while working. However, why are you hesitant to mention that you completed your MBA through distance learning?

This forum is here to assist anyone seeking guidance, but this situation seems deceptive. Once you complete your MBA, you might leave the company that provided you with employment and the opportunity to study, only to join another organization claiming you completed a full-time, regular MBA program. This would be misleading to the new company. If they discover that you did not attend classes but still obtained a certificate, they might terminate your employment. Passing an MBA without attending classes, completing assignments, or engaging in internships or projects is unlikely without resorting to unethical practices.

An MBA degree without genuine effort might only hold value in the marriage market, where you can claim to be an MBA graduate. However, even there, you might face scrutiny, as people are increasingly aware of the value of an MBA from top-tier institutions. They will likely inquire about the credibility of your MBA program, knowing that an MBA from colleges outside the top 10 or at least the top 50 B-Schools might not hold significant value.

I appreciate the advice of the learned member Madhu.

Do not start your career on the wrong footing. In this era of information, your new company may conduct a background check and find out that you obtained your MBA without attending classes or about your previous employment, etc.

Why are you planning to shift to another company? Continue to gain valuable experience and then consider a job change. Do things the right way, and you will not face any embarrassment later on.

Ethical Considerations in Employment Disclosure

It has been made very clear in this forum that we do not support unethical and unscrupulous practices. If your MBA doesn't require attendance, then its worth is suspicious, as pointed out by Madhu Sir. However, hiding this information is likely to put a question mark on your credibility and integrity. At any rate, when you join any new organization and the PF/ESI compliance comes up, the linkages would be revealed due to the Aadhaar link.

Do you see no further scope in your present place as an MBA? Regardless, you should disclose the facts in full. Naturally, questions would be put to you in the interview, and you can come clean. As an interviewer for many job openings, we have appreciated candidates who have spoken about their humble socio-economic background and the struggles they have endured. You don't have to be apologetic about it; instead, point it out as a strong point in your personality, highlighting determination, persistence, and hard work, which are likely to be impressive.

I can suggest something beneficial that will solve all your problems. Do not leave XYZ, where you are excelling and pursuing your MBA. Continue working until your MBA is completed.

The employer can easily obtain the details using your UAN or ESI number. What is the necessity of providing false information rather than disclosing your assets? Don't let them become a liability.

I still do not understand why you want to hide. Is it a requirement of the employer? Always start with the truth for a favorable outcome.

In this matter, our elite community members have given the best advice to follow.
