Hi all,

Can anyone provide me with an answer for when, during an interview, the interviewer asks, "If I don't offer the salary you demand, what will you do?" Kindly respond with what the answer should be, or if you were the candidate, how would you answer the above question?

Note: The answer should be positive and correct, helping you secure the job offer.

Hi,

It is very important to know as a candidate, what hike are you looking for? Is it realistic or not? Salary depends on the market, position, company, and present salary. If you feel you are asking for a realistic hike, you can make them understand why you are expecting that much hike. If you feel the roles/responsibilities are very good, you can negotiate. You should make it clear that whatever you are expecting is as per the market standard, qualification, and experience. Make them understand that you are interested in working and looking beyond the salary.

Hi Mahesh,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

In your response, you mentioned the expected hike amount and questioned its realism.

The candidate's expected hike aligns with market standards. For example, the minimum CTC for HR professionals is Rs. 2.75 lakhs, while the candidate requested 2.5 lakhs. The company is known for offering competitive salaries. Additionally, the candidate holds relevant qualifications and experience from reputable organizations.

Regarding the interview question, "If I don't meet your salary demand, what would you do?"—possible responses could include: "I will not accept the job offer," "I will explore other job opportunities," "I may consider other companies," or "I will continue interviewing with other firms."

Please advise on the most suitable response.

Looking forward to your reply.

if you have the confident that you are worth for that salary and you can get that in the market, say Good bye to them and leave the place. if they really need you, they will come back to you.
