Dear all,

I have one query: Are NGO employees not covered for maternity leave as per the MB Act? If an establishment is covered under the Shop and Establishment Act of Haryana Labour Law and registered under the Indian Society Act, is that the case as well?

If the NGO does not have employees who are paid a salary, then there is no scope for maternity leave. At the same time, if it is running a business generating income and profits and there are employees whose services are regulated by orders on leave, working hours, salaries, contributions towards ESI, EPF, etc., then certainly the women employed should get maternity leave as per the Maternity Benefit Act.
