I am writing this for a friend who is going to rejoin his previous employer soon. He is currently working with JP Morgan for the last three years. He received an offer from his previous employer that seemed acceptable to him, so he agreed. While he was waiting for a formal offer letter (he only received a proposed salary structure, which he accepted), his prospective boss started urging him to submit his resignation, wanting to expedite the process.
My friend submitted his resignation, and after a few days, he received a call from HR informing him that the background check would take 2-4 weeks. It has been almost 2 weeks now, and my friend is feeling anxious as he has not yet received the offer letter. I am curious to know if the background check process for him will take as long as it would for a new hire in the organization. Please assist.
