I am looking for an award title for an employee whose background is Engineering, but she is so talented that she handles the entire HR Generalist, Admin, and other jobs. She is an all-rounder, and hence the company has decided to give her an award.
I am looking for an appropriate title. Please suggest.
Thanks,
Hema

Dear Hema,
You may give the title as "Versatile HR of the Year." The dictionary meaning of the word "versatile" is "able to adapt or be adapted to many different functions or activities." In Hindi, the translation of the word is "बहुकारी" and in Marathi, "अनेकवाटी."

Hi Hema,
If your work environment allows, you can use the title of any superhero character or famous personality, such as Avenger, Fantastic Four, Iron Lady, etc. Alternatively, as she has done with Electrical Engineer, you can use her qualification as a title, for example, Electrical/Electrified HR, and so on.

Dear Utkarsh,
You have suggested fancy names like Avenger, Iron Lady, and so on. Nevertheless, if the award winner commits a major mistake, it would not only embarrass the recipient of the award but also the senior management.
In one company I have seen, for a significant error, the senior management faced ridicule from other staff members more than the recipient did for receiving such an award. On the other hand, the mistake made by this individual put the senior management in a dilemma. The situation did not warrant the withdrawal of the award, but such a mistake was not expected from the awardee either.
To avoid the above situation, some companies opt for performance-based rewards. For instance, in one factory, a worker is rewarded for producing the first 100 defect-free pieces, then 1,000, and finally 10,000. Despite receiving such awards, if a worker were to be involved in any misconduct, it would be easier to take disciplinary action against them.

Hi Dinesh,
Yes, you are right. It depends on the company's profile, the corporate level, and other factors as well. It will affect the company if any mistakes happen on such matters. I agree with your points, which is why I mentioned, "if the work environment allows the use of these titles." Some companies can use these titles after discussing/approval with management.
