Innovation's other name is change, and change is mostly resisted by people. Since HR concerns people, it is very sensitive, and any new practice can be introduced only after a considerable amount of research and study.

Thank you! That was an informative article. In fact, I would also like to say that the idea of applying for an award is a good one. The more reputed an award is, the better recognition your company's HR policies would get. This also helps instill faith among employees in the HR practices of an organization, and therefore, they tend to stick around for a longer time.

However, while the SAIL HR award is renowned, I would also like to know about some international platforms for HR. Can anyone help, please?

I read some of your comments about the SAIL HR awards. However, as far as I know, SAIL is a manufacturing company. How credible would an HR award be from a manufacturing company? When discussing HR awards, I believe we should focus more on awards presented by reputable HR institutes. What is your opinion?

Hey Ujval,

First, the HR needs to rise above its orthodox functions of recruiting, training, etc. These are the expected job roles of any HR professional. HR practices would only be considered best if they enhance the productivity of the employees. For instance, you should ensure a quality work life for your employees. Find innovative ways to motivate the employees, such as awards, gifts, etc. Also, figure out ways to break the monotony of the workplace. For example, you can allocate two hours a day for a carrom competition. This will be a refreshing factor for your workforce.

It is also crucial that employees have faith in your HR policies. This is key to building loyal employees. Address their grievances to strengthen this trust. As mentioned earlier, apply for awards to benchmark your policies, etc. These efforts will help improve the quality of work life within the organization.

The information shared by Anish Mathew is very good. Can anyone share some more latest innovative practices in HR followed by top organizations? Please share your experiences as I really want some innovation in our system.

I would also like to share an idea of green HR initiatives which I just thought of... Maybe we can talk about this in detail and discuss how this program can be best implemented.
