Dear All,
In my current company (joined 3 months ago), we have around 75 employees spread across 4 different branches. Previously, there was an expansion, but there was no established system in place; specifically, no HR department and no structured processes. It's evident that there are disparities in salary levels, with some employees receiving significantly higher pay than others, indicating many loopholes.
I have been appointed as the Operations Manager with the task of creating a well-functioning system that encompasses all aspects of the organization. I report directly to the Director.
In terms of my background, I have 13 years of work experience, with the last 6 years focused on management roles.
I am now seeking your support and guidance. Could you please advise me on the essential parameters to consider and where I should begin? I require a comprehensive list of activities that need to be implemented in the system.
Looking forward to your best guidance and support.
Warm Regards,
Ramandeep Kaur

Dear Ramandeep, You have explained your problem, but you have not provided the background information. What is the nature of your industry? What is your product or service? What kind of operations do you handle? Who are your customers?
Key Performance Indicators for Operations Management
As the Operations Manager, the first key performance indicator (KPI) you need to measure your performance is the Operations Ratio. Have you done that? You need to identify similar other ratios as well. Any system that you implement should facilitate the measurement of these ratios.
Secondly, to streamline the operations at the branch level, you need to ensure there is absolute uniformity in the functioning of the branches.
For any further queries, feel free to contact me.
