Hi, Keval. In my opinion, labor laws and industrial relations are two distinct topics. Labor laws are used to maintain smooth industrial relations within an organization. However, industrial relations depend on the attitude and atmosphere prevailing in the organizations. Labor laws provide guidelines to observe the statutory provisions in the organizations.

Thank you to all who respond. I really appreciate your valuable time to help me out. In one of my interviews, I was asked a question about how many labor laws deal with industrial relations (IR) and to describe the name of each. Therefore, I am seeking from you the list of IR laws and their sources, if any.

I suggest that you first go through the book on hand from the first page to the last page alongside headings to get the outlines of the act. SP Jain's Labour Law book is sufficient. For the rest of the information, follow the procedures and practices in the organization and have discussions with your superiors. Please let me know if you need further assistance or clarification.

Thank you.

Industrial relations are also affected without any law book coming in between. It is basically about relations, service conditions, a congenial work environment, interpersonal relations, and salary. While disputes are governed by what is stated in the law, many of the behavioral aspects originate from good or bad relations. Laws provide you with the route map, but reaching the destination is your job.
