Hiren! I agree to you...Yes..Ambani never looked at educational qualifications..but he gave jobs ONLY TO PERSONS WHO HAS ADMITTED THAT THEY HAVE NO QUALIFICATIONS..HE DIDNOT ADMIT ANYBODY WHO DID FRAUDS OR WHO CHEATED HIS ORGANISATION... We had a case in our Organisation..who faked his MCA certificates...our backround verification takes 1 month to complete..but before this, he was sent to Onsite because of the project demands...You Know one thing? He got 38 out of 40 in one among the toughest qpapers, during his interview When we got the verification report, he was called back to India, issued memo, asked for explanation...But anyhow, sent a termination letter as he accepted his fraudalance..seized his passport.... Inbetween, when he was at onsite, we got 2 to 3 mails from his personal mail id stating that 'people put fake and join companies in india..but i am the one who got job by putting fake and come to London'...for this, we sent him a legal notice..then due to various facts, we found that mails were not from him but one of his frnds who knew his mail id and password..'.. Then we returned his passport after recovering the expenses we incurred on his Visa and travel... So Gambhir! Though it is late, its high time to take action on this particular employee. Priya

Dear Gambhir, I wish to share my reaction with you on this issue. As far as the company is concerned, you remarked that he is an excellent and fantastic employee delivering value. This is the basic trait that is required when any individual at whatever capacity he/she is inducted into, should be actually doing. But sadly, we have umpteen number of cases where individuals come with great degrees but add little value. In India we give more importance to degrees as against ultimate value addition by an employee. Now, as far as employee's perspective is concerned - he is doing his best for the company and is getting paid for the same. He definitely lives with guilt and fear of loss of face and may be eventually the job. May be this factor is actually driving him to work harder and prove his mettle. Lastly, what u could do is to ask him in writing what made him to take this course of action. Depending on his statement, may be the company can take an overall view and then decide. I differ with the extreme view of immediately sacking him. As an HR person, your role is to take a holistic view of the matter. Anand

Hii Gambhir, I totally agree wth what Jeroo has suggested.I think HR’s in any organization should alwys be alert and take wise decision rather thn emotional decisions. Regards, Reema Sharma

Dear Friend, The employee does not deserve any lienient treatment. Inefficiency can be tolerated but not dishonesty. However he is efficient he cannot be retained. By giving an opportunity to him we are setting a wrong precedent and others will be encouraged to commit different type pf fraud and at that time the management cannot take a different decision which will upset the organisation. moreover by this we are allowing a wrong culture to creep inside the organisation
