Analyzing Employee Breaks

If the employees are in a position to take a long break, it could be because of not having enough work to do. Despite having surplus time available, if employees are spending extended periods on breaks, it may indicate a lack of a learning attitude.

Therefore, before instructing them to reduce their breaks, I suggest conducting a workload analysis. This analysis will help identify individuals with work gaps that they are filling with prolonged breaks.

Managerial Oversight

If employees are taking longer breaks, it raises the question of why their managers are permitting this behavior. Could it be considered a managerial failure?

Engaging Employees for Productivity

Another approach is to engage employees in a brainstorming session to enhance personal or departmental productivity. A follow-up brainstorming session could focus on self-learning. If employees can demonstrate increased departmental productivity through learning a new subject, suitable recognition could be provided.
