By closely monitoring and subsequently breaking down tasks to an hourly basis, then converting them into monetary terms, one can gain a better understanding. For example, if you are manufacturing an item or an article that involves four processes, you need to identify the cost of each process. Set a target to reduce the process cost by 20% to 30%, and then review the benchmarks. Ask employees to maintain these targets for the coming week or month. Appreciate their efforts publicly and provide proper recognition or rewards. Apart from the mentioned tools, there are a few others that require close observation.

1. The workforce—employees should be motivated.
2. Different people are motivated by different factors such as money, recognition, and advancement.
3. To achieve this, good leadership is essential.
4. A leader should be a role model, unbiased, fair, and a person of integrity.
5. The corporate culture should promote enthusiasm and positivity.
6. Employees should be able to see the bigger picture.
7. Personal traits and skills should be enhanced through training.

If you follow the above 7 steps, I am sure productivity will improve.

Productivity can be increased by measuring the work done. Depending on the type of work, you should be able to work out methods to do this or seek external help from organizations suggested by others. Once this is done, an incentive scheme to reward based on productivity (work done/unit time) should be started.
