Basic Requirements for Occupying Workspace
Before occupying any workspace or premises where any business activity is to be carried out, it is essential to seek and secure a valid permit. This includes:
1. Space on rent or on a self-ownership basis with all applicable permissions.
2. The establishment certificate applied for and issued by the competent authority under the Shops & Establishment Act and the rules of the concerned state/province of the Indian Union after paying/depositing the prescribed fees for a fixed term/period, renewable upon the expiry of the sanctioned period.
The establishment certificate issued by the authority must be prominently displayed on the premises' notice board.
Compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act
As you are beginning, it is important for you and your employer to comply with all the provisions of the new law, namely the "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act 2013," and the rules framed by the Central Government and gazetted on 9.12.2013. In this connection, your attention is drawn to Section 19 of the said Act.
