Dear Sir,
We have Interior Contractor firm in Mumbai registered Under Shops & Establishment Act,and wages are paid to the labours as per Shops & Establishment Act In one of hotels Project in Mumbai. Currently we are doing Carpentry,Painting & Polishing work in the same.The Hotel HR department informed to us pay the minimum wages as per Hotels Industry Category not as per Shops & Establishment act because you are doing work in hotels premises so you have to pay Minimum wages as per Hotel Industry category. Is it so ?
Please guide me.

Rate of minimum wages is concern with nature of work, no need to give min wages rate as per hotel industries as your nature of work is different.

Apart from what seniors has advised you, out of curiosity would like to know how come the HR personnel is involved in the salary of the staff of a contractor, they can ask for the ESI challans for statutory purpose but is least concerned with the salary structure of the contractors staff/workers.
I hope you are into contract with the hotel for interior designing and not for any other work of the hotel services.
