Dear Sandeep,

As per the Labour Act, normal working hours are 8 hours per day, but a person can work a maximum of up to 9 hours per day, i.e., 6 hours per week. That's what I read somewhere. After getting more information, I'll get back to you.

As per the Factories Act, no worker shall be permitted to work for nine hours in a day. Simultaneously, if the hours of work exceed nine hours, they will be eligible to receive overtime payment for each hour worked beyond their normal eight hours. This implies that no overtime payment will be payable if they work only for nine hours. However, if they work for ten hours, they will be paid overtime for two hours.

The spread of work, including intervals of rest, should not exceed ten hours and thirty minutes. In the event an employee is engaged in urgent repair work, their working time may be extended up to twelve hours. In such cases, the spread of work should not exceed thirteen hours.

The total number of overtime hours worked in any quarter should not exceed seventy-five hours.
