Hi,
The attendance policy would be covered under the Standing Order/Service Rules. The general principles that this policy has to cover are as follows:
- Marking of attendance category
- Recording of attendance
- Procedure to record attendance at the allotted spot
- Accountability of attendance to determine payroll computation
- Time-offs procedure
- Late coming intimation - follow through
- Misrepresentation on the recording system
- Falsification of documents
- Disciplinary action for lapses
Thank you,

Shyamali,
Generally, it is an in-house policy.
1. Maintenance of manual register as per the applicable acts to the organization (Factory Act, Shop & Establishment Act).
2. Defining the time for card acceptance in the morning.
3. Defining the time for a half-day.
4. Procedure to be set in case of not bringing the card.
5. In the case of leaving early but after half a day, i.e., leaving 2 hours earlier than the closing of business hours.
6. Timely intimation to the Labor Department on a weekly basis regarding the arrival and departure of employees.
7. A policy needs to be established in case of not swapping the card.
8. Non-compliance with the above policy.
