In my company, various marketing field employees who were on a tour the previous day and arrived late at their homes are coming in late the next day to the office. My management wants to prepare a policy regarding flexible hours in such cases. Please suggest.

Hi, In such cases give flexi hours policy. They should report to their manager how many hours they work for the day. Put the policy of regular how many hours one should work.

The policy should clearly state that each employee should complete their fixed business hours of 8 or 9 hours (whichever is applicable in your company) and report the same to their respective managers and HR (or admin/payroll personnel responsible for maintaining the daily muster or attendance register). Employees can complete the said business hours anytime between 8 am to 11 pm in a day. This policy is applicable to the Sales department only. Managers should be informed in advance about availing the flexible working hours. Attendance will only be considered valid after the manager's approval.
This policy can be refined further to align with your company's rules and ensure employee comfort. Feel free to contact me for any clarifications.

Policy for Managing Working Hours
Make a policy for managing working hours and inform everyone. Generally, employees should complete 8 or 9 hours daily, as per company rules. If someone attends the office for fewer hours than mentioned, calculate their average for the whole month. If the average is less than the required time, then deduct either a half or full day.
For example, if I attended the office today for 8 hours, I will complete my required 1 hour within this week or month.
Steps to Implement the Policy
1. Fix the daily working hours.
2. Determine how many fewer hours should be considered a half-day and how many should be considered a full-day leave.
3. If someone is working from home or has visited a site, they should report their working hours to their manager and HR on the same day.
