I would like to request you to add your expert comments on conducting a retreat session for 2-3 days for almost sixty staff. We are a non-profit organization existing in five states working with different verticals, i.e., livelihood, education, sports, skills, etc. We are planning to have a retreat where staff will get the chance to know each other, and there shall be cross-learning as staff will come together from different states and work with different verticals.

Kindly suggest some team-building activities and some cross-learning sessions for our staff.

Hello,

You can organize a function which includes some motivational speakers. Invite individuals who have benefited from your NGO to share how the workers have helped them. This will motivate others, and the appreciation will boost morale as well. Organize games such as a Cricket Match, Build the Tower, and Balloon Games so the team can engage and have the opportunity to get to know each other. You can also plan for some gifts as well.

Hi Julie,

Are you planning an outreach picnic-type stay-get-together, or will it be within the four walls of your office? Is it going to be totally recreational or partly aimed at getting to know the work of others?

One inevitable task will be, considering your NPO activities, that the teams coming from different centers should share the nature of their projects, target groups, activities, achievements, challenges, and ambitious focuses. They should also highlight the help and guidance they expect from other groups and suggest potential future projects, either in collaboration with other teams or to be passed on to other specialized teams.

Furthermore, it is understood that a significant amount of aid, support, and grants are often returned to government or other sponsoring agencies, both national and international, particularly in the fields of education, rural health and nutrition, environment, waste management, organic farming, and rural finances. Your teams should prioritize projects in these areas for the benefit of the target groups.

Additionally, there are still thousands of tribal and rural populations in the country who lack access to basic necessities such as electricity, communication, health, education, and roads. Initiatives should be taken to provide at least electricity, possibly through local-based solar power, along with safe drinking water and essential health services. Training these communities in applied research in agriculture and promoting safe and healthy living practices can help eradicate diseases that have been passed down through generations.

On the recreational side, there are plenty of sites that offer various games to entertain everyone.

Thank you.
