I worked in an IT company (with 65-70 employees) but got laid off yesterday along with 25 other people due to the company's financial losses. There was no verbal or written notice given prior to the layoff. The employer informed me that I would only receive one month's salary as per the ID Act. However, in my appointment letter, it was clearly stated, "Your services may be terminated by either party by providing a 60-day notice period in writing." Therefore, they are not honoring their own statement from the appointment letter.
Now, I am seeking advice on how to demand compensation for the two months that should have been the notice period. This would mean receiving a total of three months' salary—one month as compensation for the abrupt termination and two months for violating the agreement letter.
