Hi, I have absconded from HDFC Life Insurance. I had worked there for 1 month. Now, I want to apply to HDFC Bank. Will they find out since I am not including it on my resume? What will happen? How do they verify if a person has worked with their group companies? Please reply.

Employment is certainly a matter of personal choice, and as such, no one, not even a Court of Law, can compel an unwilling employee to continue their services under an employer for any reason. However, the desire to sever the tie is governed by the rules of exit, whether the initiator is the employer or the employee. Therefore, absconding or desertion of employment is not only illegal but also unethical, and as such, it would be considered misconduct, whether explicitly stated or not.

Your post suggests uncertainty about your desire for suitable employment. Perhaps, you may abscond again in the future if you secure a position in a nationalized bank or any other public sector undertaking where you believe the service conditions or job security may be better. It is advisable to find a fitting job and prepare yourself for it. However, do not neglect to adhere to the rules when your voluntary exit becomes inevitable in the interest of your career.
