Hi,
My father voluntarily retired from RSRTC after completing 30 years of service on October 31, 2009, and he received a gratuity amount of INR 3,50,000. Is he eligible for the revised gratuity amount of INR 10 lakhs? If yes, what is the procedure to claim it?

Dear Mayank Deshmukh,
I don't know under which act gratuity for RSRTC is being paid. However, if it is under the Payment of Gratuity Act passed by Parliament, your father will not have any claim exceeding Rs. 3,50,000. This is because, as per this act, the ceiling amount of gratuity was raised from Rs. 3,50,000 to Rs. 10,00,000 in May 2010.
