Hi all, I have 5 years of experience in the HR field, and I have experience in HR payroll, compliance, and generalist recruitment. Presently, I'm working as a Senior HR Executive in this office. I joined in February 2014, but I'm not satisfied with this job because the company is only giving me responsibilities as an HR recruiter. Initially, before joining, the company promised to give me all responsibilities, but so far, I have only been assigned tasks related to payroll, compliance, etc., which are being handled by my junior. My junior has been with the company for the last 3 years, but he lacks knowledge in the HR field. He works in another department and is only proficient in Excel. Therefore, I am considering changing my job. Is this the right decision? Please suggest.

Thanks, Kanika

As you have recently joined this organization and have been given only a recruitment profile by the company, just wait and watch. You don't need to be tense; just take care of the role given to you by the company. Give it some time, and I am sure they will definitely entrust you with more responsibilities. In the meantime, try to observe what the juniors are doing, understand the processes in place, and learn about the methods they follow during salary preparation. If needed, provide your input to streamline the work and make it more efficient in front of seniors so that they will take notice of your efforts and assign you greater responsibilities.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me.

Thank you.

Dear Arpan,

Thank you for replying to me. Actually, you wrote to say, but my senior is very well aware that the guy does not have experience in the payroll and HR field. My senior spoke to him and asked if he was comfortable with payroll and compliance, and the guy said, "Yes, sir, I'm comfortable. However, I have no knowledge in HR." Then, my senior told him that we will teach him. Initially, I was handling the enrollment part, but this work was given to him. I am very disappointed. If the company does not assign other responsibilities, then I will forget everything, like compliance, payroll, etc.

I need a job, but I am still not satisfied. :(

Thanks,
Kavita

Dear Arpan, how are you? I have received a call from a consultant, and I have a meeting scheduled with them. The consultant has proposed an offer for the position of HR Manager with a salary of 20K plus incentives. I would appreciate your advice on what I should do.

Regards, Kavita
