Hi all,

Greetings!

I am looking forward to your suggestions regarding taking up an SAP course in HR as I am seeking a job change. I have a total of 7 years of working experience, with 4 years post MBA (HR). It would be great if you could suggest a good and reputable institute or training center that can provide thorough training on the technology or assist me in securing a job quickly.

Today, I received a call from a training center based in Noida, Sector 2, offering SAP training at approximately Rs. 25K + taxes, with a job guarantee. However, they also mentioned additional charges: upon receiving an offer letter from the company they place me with, and once I obtain an appointment letter from the company, this training center would deduct one month's salary.

Before I proceed to meet them, I would appreciate your suggestions on this matter. What would be the best course of action in this situation?

I am aware that this platform has many knowledgeable and supportive seniors, and I am looking forward to your insights.

Best regards,

Hi, this is Balaji from CiteHR.

I am an MBA (HR) candidate in the final year. I read through your question. I would personally suggest that you look out for training centers that do not typically charge companies for placements. For training, it's acceptable, but for job placement, opt for direct placement; otherwise, they may need to charge the employer directly.

Dear Team Members,

Please guide me if there are any provisions regarding Casual Leave and Sick Leave under Labour Laws. Additionally, kindly advise on the amount of leave that will be given to:

Sapnna,

It hardly matters if you have experience in SAP or not. Ideally, get into an organization that has good HR practices, is small in size and volume (easy to navigate and integrate into), and slowly start learning on the job.

These courses can provide a basic idea, but there is no guarantee of 100% placements. At the end of the day, these companies are in business to make money, after all :).

Show some initiative and seize opportunities elsewhere, perhaps at a lower level in a company that utilizes ERP tools. I am confident that over time, you will succeed. The experience you gain will be invaluable.

Hey Sapna,

I would suggest not going for any courses for a month or two. Let this recession pass. Don't make hasty decisions to leave your job and opt for training. Think twice before making a move.

Cheers,
Vas..

Hi Swapna,

There are lots of people who have lost their jobs, money, and time due to this SAP. I am one among them. Don't leave your present job so that even if you don't get a job, you will be safe. In SAP, you have to work on a project, so you can't have continuous work. You have to switch jobs after the completion of projects. Instead of that, join a company that wants to implement SAP/ERP. You can join a training center that charges a lower fee. Before joining any training center, talk to their alumni.

Hi,

Do not leave your job and opt for training. That will be very risky. I have personally seen such cases where individuals leave their jobs to upgrade themselves through training, only to end up frustrated. Placement guarantees are something that nobody can truly provide. If they do offer you one, you may have to accept whatever they are willing to offer, which often means compromising.

I have worked in such training institutes and have experienced this firsthand.

One very important thing to consider is the market conditions...

Hi Sapnna,

Please be very careful before you pay any institute or leave your current job.

Any institute that is not SAP certified cannot be authentic.

There are a lot of institutes that will ask you for 20/30 thousand or more for this course, but these institutes will teach you and ask you to support yourself with a fake resume and experience. They will support you with complete paperwork.

One such institute is Webcomm in South Extension, from where I did SAP. They have their own company called Maxvistas, and they support people with fake industry experience, thus placing some people. However, I was not comfortable showing their fake experience.

This can also lead an individual to be blacklisted from the industry itself.

Most companies hire SAP consultants who have experience of at least one project. Some people show fake experience and might just get through.

I think if you really want to do SAP, please think of nothing other than Siemens. It will cost you around 3 lakhs.

But don't trust any other institutes because it's the same story everywhere. It's like a sheer waste of money, time, and energy in the end.

Do let me know what you decide. Hope this helps.

I really appreciate help and suggestions from all of you. You all are right; I think I should just wait for a good opportunity from a reputable company that might train me for SAP/ERP.

I have had a word with Siemens. That's so expensive. You know, it really becomes difficult. First, invested money in an MBA and then if I take it up... I mean, one really needs to plan the finances well. I am being very frank on this.

I am also looking for a job change. Can any of you be of help in this regard too? I am open to relocating as well.

Hi Sameer,

I am Sameer. I have passed my intermediate with subjects in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. I am looking forward to pursuing a B.B.A. degree from ICFAI Hyderabad. As I come from a math background, would it be better for me to study B.B.A.? Additionally, could you please suggest some good colleges in Hyderabad along with their fee structures?

Thank you.

Sapna,

I would also suggest you gain on-the-job SAP-HR knowledge. Doing a course from a reputed institute is really very costly. As and when required, IBM hires a batch of HR professionals, provides them with SAP-HR training (free of cost), and deploys them in projects.
